I. Preliminary Details:
Esio Oboho transferred his service to Akwa
Ibom State University of Technology in November 2006 as a Professor of
Chemical Engineering. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in 1976 and
1979 respectively from Moscow Institute of Petrochemical and Gas
Industry, Moscow, USSR. Esio Oboho studied under the Bureau for External
Aid for Education Scholarship Scheme and was the best graduating student
in the Faculty of Chemical Technology in 1976. From 1979 to 2006, he was
a lecturer at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port
Harcourt, where he rose to the position of Associate Professor in 2002.
II. University
Career:
Esio Oboho was Ag. Head, Department of
Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering, Rivers State University of Science
and Technology from August 1987 to October 1989 and from July 2005 to
August 2006. He also served as Director, SIWES and Coordinator, Senate
Industrial Training Committee from October 1999 to June 2005. He is
currently involved in the development of the Bachelor of Technology and
Master of Technology programs for the School of Chemical/Petrochemical
Engineering and Oil Technology, Akwa Ibom State University of Technology,
as well as making recommendations on infrastructural development,
equipment procurement and staff recruitment for the School. Esio Oboho
has successfully supervised two Ph.D. and over fifteen Master of
Technology theses. He is currently supervising three Ph.D. and seven
M.Tech. theses. Professor Oboho has published over thirty papers in
Journals and Conference Proceedings.
III. Professional
Experience:
Professor Oboho is a Registered
Professional Engineer with COREN (R 4704). He is a member of the Nigerian
Society of Chemical Engineers (since 1984) and the Nigerian Society of
Engineers (since 1991). He was the Secretary, Nigerian Society of
Chemical Engineers, Rivers/Cross River/Akwa Ibom States Chapter from
1985-1988 and Member, L.O.C., Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers
A.G.M. and Conference in1984. He also served as Member of Interview Panel
for Nigerian Society of Engineers and COREN from 1994 to 1998 and Member,
COREN Accreditation Committee to Federal University of Technology, Owerri
in 2006. He was a Recipient of NSChE Merit Award in 1988 for outstanding
contributions to the Society.
IV. Consultancy/Production
Experience:
Professor Oboho served as a member of the
Group for Process Design and Software Development for the Raw Materials
Research and Development Council in 2001 – 2002. He also conducted
consultancy work for ELF Petroleum Nigeria Limited on Water analysis and
design of water treatment plant for Okaan-Ama Okoroboile community in
Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State in 2006.
V. Areas of Teaching, Research and Project interests envisaged within AKUTECH.
Major area of research is in modeling and
simulation of reactors for Chemical Engineering Processes with emphasis
on Catalytic cracking, Catalytic reforming and Oxidation of SO2
to SO3. Other research areas include biodegradation and
disposal of petroleum hydrocarbons and used lubricating oils, and coking
of petroleum residues from Nigerian crude oil. Courses expected to teach
include Chemical Reaction Engineering, Separation Processes, Heat and
Mass Transfer, Petroleum Refinery Processes and Chemical Engineering
Process Design.
